Eintauchen in eine Kultur ist eine Kunst, die man durch Ausprobieren lernt.
Immersion into a culture is an art which one learns by trial and error. The aim is not to become a native but rather a "good foreigner" who has succeeded to appreciate the behaviour of the host culture by having made friends. The end result of the process should be that he/she will be able to appreciate and to criticize his/her own culture as well as the host culture. He/she knows that he/she not only can learn from but also give to the host culture something that will enrich both.
Eintauchen in eine Kultur ist eine Kunst, die man durch Ausprobieren lernt. Das Ziel ist nicht, ein Einheimischer zu werden, sondern ein "guter Fremder", dem es gelungen ist, die Verhaltensweisen seiner Gastkultur zu schätzen, indem er Freundschaften geschlossen hat. Das Ergebnis dieses Prozesses sollte sein, daß man in der Lage ist, seine eigene ebenso wie die Gastkultur zu schätzen und kritisch zu betrachten. Man weiß, daß man nicht nur von der Gastkultur lernen, sondern ihr auch etwas geben kann, was beide bereichern wird.
La inmersión en una cultura es un arte que se aprende tanteando. La meta no es hacerse nativo sino "un buen extranjero", quien consiguió apreciar el comportamiento del país hospitalario contrayendo amistades. Como resultado de este proceso él/ella debería estar en condiciones de apreciar y criticar su propia cultura como la extranjera. Sabe que no sólo puede aprender de la cultura hospitalaria, sino que puede darle algo, lo cual enriquecerá ambas culturas.
