Zugang auf Umwegen. Vorläufige Bemerkungen zur Rezeption des II. Vatikanums in China

Die chinesische katholische Kirche hat aufgrund der politischen Umstände am Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzil nicht teilgenommen. Die Rezeption des Konzils begann erst in den 1980er Jahren und gestaltet sich bis heute recht schwierig. Der Beitrag versucht zunächst die Umwege der Rezeption der Konzilstheologie in der VR China (über Hongkong, Taiwan, Macau und das Ausland) zu skizzieren. Sodann wird der gegenwärtige Zustand der Rezeption charakterisiert, um schließlich eine mangelhafte Rezeption bzw. „Konzilsresistenz“ zu konstatieren. Die chinesische Kirche braucht nach wie vor fortdauernde Anstrengungen, um sich den Geist des Zweiten Vatikanums anzueignen und den vollständigen Anschluss an die Universalkirche zu finden. Sicherlich wird dies am Ende Resultate hervorbringen, die sich von denen in Afrika, Europa und Nordamerika unterscheiden, aber auch eine Bereicherung der Universalkirche bedeuten.


Due to the political situation after 1949 the Chinese Catholic Church was unable to participate in the Second Vatican Council. The reception of Vatican II in China only began in the 1980s and until today is accompanied with difficulties. This contribution first of all tries to outline the detours of the reception of the theology of the Council in the PR China (via Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, and foreign countries). Then the present state of the reception is being characterized in order to finally acknowledge an inadequate reception or “resistance towards the Council.” The Chinese Church still needs to undertake continuous efforts to acquire the spirit of Vatican II and to be fully integrated into the Universal Church. This will surely lead to results very different from those in Africa, Europe, and North America, a difference which will at the same time be an enrichment for the Universal Church.

La Iglesia Católica china no participó en el Concilio Vaticano Segundo debido a su situación política. La recepción del concilio comenzó recién en los años 80 del siglo pasado y resulta muy difícil hasta el presente. El artículo trata de esbozar primero los rodeos de la recepción de la teología conciliar en la República Popular de China (a través de Hongkong, Taiwán, Macau y el extranjero). Luego el autor caracteriza la situación actual de la recepción, y finalmente constata una recepción deficiente, o bien “resistencia al concilio”. La Iglesia china sigue necesitando esfuerzos continuos para apropiarse el espíritu del Vaticano Segundo y encontrar la unión completa con la Iglesia Universal. Con seguridad esto producirá finalmente resultados que se distinguirán de los de África, Europa y Norteamérica, pero significarán un enriquecimiento de la Iglesia Universal.
