Der Vollversammlung der FABC in Bandung 1990 kommt besondere Bedeutung zu, weil dort das Selbstverständnis der Kirche für Asien mit dem Begriff von Kleinen Christlichen Gemeinschaften als einer neuen Seinsweise von Kirche bestimmt wurde. Der Beitrag zeichnet die Entwicklung zur Vollversammlung in Bandung vor 25 Jahren und den weiteren Prozess dieses Selbstverständnisses nach. Seit dieser Zeit wird auch der Begriff AsIPA – Asian Integral Pastoral Approach – als Fortbildungsprogramm und kontextualisiertes Selbstverständnis von Kirche bedeutsam.

The 1990 FABC Plenary Assembly at Bandung has reached historic significance as that meeting clarified the self-understanding for the Asian church through the concept of Small Christian Communities which were understood as a new way of being church. This article presents the develop-ments leading to the plenary assembly at Bandung twenty-five years ago and follows the further unfolding of this self-understanding. Over these years, the concept of AsIPA—Asian Integral Pastoral Approach—as formation programme and contextualised understanding of church has acquired a high standing.

La asamblea plenaria de la FABC en Bandung 1990 ha adquirido una gran importancia ya que allá se definió la autocomprensión de la iglesia asiática con la propuesta de las Pequeñas Comunidades Cristianas como una manera nueva de ser iglesia. Este artículo sigue el desarrollo que llevó a la asamblea plenaria de Bandung hace 25 años y presenta los procesos de esta autocomprensión desde entonces. Desde este tiempo, también el concepto de AsIPA – Asian Integral Pastoral Approach – ha ganado importancia como programa de formación y una comprensión contextualizada de la iglesia.

L’Assemblée plénière de la FABC à Bandung en 1990 a pris une portée historique en clarifiant la façon dont l’Église asiatique se comprenait à travers la conception des petites communautés chrétiennes – une nouvelle façon d’être Église. Cet article retrace ce qui a conduit à cette assemblée plénière de Bandung, il y a vingt-cinq ans, et suit les développements de cette nouvelle compréhension. Année après année, le concept d’AsIPA – Pastorale asiatique intégrale – comme programme de formation et conception contex¬tualisée de l’Église a pris de plus en plus d’importance.
