Becoming Prophets of Encounter: The Culture of Encounter and Religious Life Today

Ausgehend von Papst Franziskus’ zentralem Konzept einer „Kultur der Begegnung“ erläutert dieser Beitrag die Berufung der Ordensleute als ein Engagement für Begegnung und Kommunikation. Das fordert die Religiosen heraus, Propheten der Begegnung zu werden und dazu aus ihren internen Kreisen hinauszugehen in die Welt und die Gesellschaft und schließt eine bewusste Beziehung zu sich selbst, zur Gemeinschaft und zu Gott ein. – Der Vortragsstil wurde beibehalten.

Drawing on Pope Francis’s central concept of a “culture of encounter,” this paper explains the vocation of the religious as a commitment to encounter and communication. It requires the religious to become prophets of encounter and therefore to get out of their internal circles into the world and society. This implies a conscious relation to the self, the community and to
God.—The oral style of the presentation is maintained.

Partiendo del concepto fundamental del Papa Francisco de una “cultura del encuentro”, esta contribución explica la vocación de los religiosos y religiosas como un compromiso con el encuentro y la comunicación. Requiere que los religiosos y religiosas se tornen profetas del encuentro y, por lo tanto, salgan de sus círculos internos hacia el mundo y la sociedad. Para ello tienen que cultivar una consciente relación consigo mismos, con la comunidad y con Dios. – El estilo oral de la presentación se mantiene.

S’appuyant sur le concept central d’une « culture de la rencontre » chez le pape François, cet article présente la vocation religieuse comme un engagement à la rencontre et à la communication. Cela demande aux religieux de devenir des prophètes de la rencontre et donc de quitter les cercles clos pour aller dans le monde et la société. Cela implique une relation consciente à soi-même, à la communauté et à Dieu. On a gardé le style oral de la présentation.
