Fu Shenfu - "Mother" of South Shandong Mission

China is one of the oldest and most highiy cultured countries of the world. Since a long time ago, the Europeans have had a big interest in China. Some mission congregations like the Franciscans and Dominicans had sent their missionaries to China about 8 centuries ago, with the aim to preach Jesus Christ to the Chinese, hoping they also could share His Good News. With the same aim, the founder ofthe Society ofthe Divine Word, Fr. Amold Janssen, sent his first two missionaries. Fr. Freinademetz (Fu Shenfu) and Fr. Anzer, to China in 1879. Politically and socially, the 19th Century was a time of tribulation in China. However, this articie teils us how Fu Shenfu, the humble, zealous priest, through his hard work, sacrifices, love, prayers and his excellent characteristics converted many Chinese to the Catholic faith and achieved his own holiness.


China ist eine der ältesten Hochkulturen der Erde. Schon vor langer Zeit hatten die Europäer großes Interesse an China. Einige Missionsorden wie die Franziskaner und Dominikaner haben vor acht Jahrhunderten Missionare nach China geschickt, um den Chinesen Jesus Christus zu predigen, damit sie teilhaben an seiner Frohen Botschaft. Mit derselben Absicht sandte Arnold Janssen, der Gründer der Gesellschaft des Göttlichen Wortes, seine ersten beiden Missionare, P. Freinademetz (Fu Shenfu) und P. Anzer 1879 nach China. Politisch und sozial war das 19. Jahrhundert in China eine Zeit großer Wirren. Der Artikel zeigt, wie Fu Shenfu, der bescheidene, eifrige Priester, durch seine harte Arbeit, seine Opfer, seine Liebe, seine Gebete und seine ausgezeichneten Charaktereigenschaften so viele Chinesen zum katholischen Glauben bekehrte und seine eigene Heiligkeit erlangte.

Algunas órdenes misioneras como los franciscanos y los dominicos desde hace 8 siglos, y los jesuitas más tarde, mandaron sus misioneros a China, para predicar a Jesucristo a los chinos para que compartieran su mensaje. Con la misma intención Arnoldo Janssen, el fundador de la Congregación del Verbo Divino, envió sus dos primeros misioneros, P. Freinademetz (Fu Shenfu) y P. Anzer a China en 1879. Política y socialmente el sigio 19 fue una época de sufrimientos para China. El artículo demuestra como Fu Shenfu, el sacerdote modesto y celoso, a través de su trabajo duro, sus sacrificios, su amor, su oraciones y las cualidades excelentes de su carácter convirtió a tantos chinos a la fe católica y alcanzó su propia santidad.
