Desde que los europeos llegaron a Australia en el siglo XVIII, los derechos de los pueblos aborígenes fueron negados y no han sido restaurados hasta nuestros días. El autor menciona varios aspectos del estado legal de esta injusticia. La visita del Papa Juan Pablo II en 1986 marcó un momento importante de tomar conciencia de esta situación de los pueblos aborígenes.
