Das 19. Jahrhundert war eine Zeit epochaler Umbrüche in Gesellschaft und Kirche. Der Katholizismus erfuhr seine besondere Gestaltung und besonders die Rolle der Frau in Kirche und Gesellschaft veränderte sich. Die Romantik spielte eine wichtige Rolle mit ihrer Betonung des Weiblichen. Im Beitrag geht es um verschiedene Frauen vor allem aus Aachen, die sich für ihre sozialen und karitativen Anliegen organisierten und in Vereinen und Kongregationen einen Betätigungsraum fanden, der in die Öffentlichkeit hineinspielte. Auch die ersten Steyler Missionsschwestern kommen aus diesem geistigen Kontext.
The 19th century was a time of epochal upheavals in society and the church. Catholicism underwent its special shaping and especially the role of women in church and society changed. Romanticism played an important role with its emphasis on the feminine. The article deals with various women, especially from Aachen (Germany), who organised themselves for their social and charitable concerns and found a sphere of activity in associations and congregations that played a role in the public sphere. The first Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters also came from this spiritual context.
El siglo XIX fue una época de grandes cambios en la sociedad y en la iglesia. El catolicismo experimentó su especial configuración y sobre todo cambió el papel de la mujer en la iglesia y en la sociedad. El romanticismo desempeñó un papel importante con su énfasis en lo femenino. El artículo trata de varias mujeres, especialmente de Aquisgrán (Alemania), que se organizaron para sus preocupaciones sociales y caritativas y encontraron un ámbito de actividad en asociaciones y congregaciones que desempeñaban un papel en la esfera pública. Cet article prend l’exemple de plusieurs femmes – en particulier d’Aix-la-Chapelle (Allemagne) qui se sont organisées pour leurs tâches sociales et charitables et ont trouvé une sphère d’activités dans des associations et des congrégations qui ont joué un rôle dans le domaine public. Les premières Sœurs missionnaires du Saint Esprit sont également issues de ce contexte spirituel.
